We are delighted to have an Ident client, Miss Helen Wallace as a guest blogger this month.
Helen Wallace (BDS)
Between the dates of 22nd July and 2nd August, I, Miss Helen Wallace BDS am taking a break from my time at the Academy dental practice, 19 Union Street, Inverness, to be a part of the dental team working at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
I originally volunteered to be a part the first commonwealth games, as I was eager to be a part of what I hope will be a great sporting event which will show Scotland at its best. Furthermore, as I have a keen interest in cycling and have been involved in various amateur events, I have always been grateful to volunteers and marshalls who gave up their time to help me and fellow competitors and consequently I felt it was about time I did something in return.
During my time at the games I will be expected to ensure that the athletes are relieved from dental pain caused either by decay, infection or injury and enable them to compete to the best of their ability. Even though it is well documented that athletes suffer a high incident of dental disease due to a high carbohydrate diet; I will most likely be treating athletes from distant shores it will be interesting to see the care and dental health from other commonwealth countries.
