Scottish Dental Show 2014

As the largest dental plan provider based in Scotland, here at Independent Care Plans (ICP) we continue to support the Scottish Dental Show which is in its third year and what an excellent and busy couple of days it was!

The venue for this year’s event held on 9th-10th May switched to the Brayhead Arena near Glasgow which was an inspired choice in that it was so much more ‘user friendly’ for both exhibitors and delegates; offering everyone the option of some retail therapy during the days! It was especially encouraging to notice that the demand for exhibition space was higher than the previous two years.

Well done and congratulations to Ann Craib at Connect Communications who organised the event and does it with such a positive approach and a smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Ann even when exhibitors (like ourselves) are bombarding her with enquiries, queries, requests etc – so a big thank you to Ann.

I sincerely hope the feedback to Ann from both exhibitors and delegates alike has been positive because I believe it is essential this event remains an important date in the calendar for everyone involved in dentistry throughout Scotland. It does offer an additional option to the plethora of trade/educational events that we have to choose from but is much closer to home for many.

As ever the Scottish Dental Show provided the ideal opportunity for potential new to group candidates to discuss the products, services and benefits of considering Independent Care Plans as their plan provider; whilst meeting lots of our existing and valued member practices, which included Dentist of the Year winner, Bert Hay at Inspire Dental and Kingussie Dental – congratulations Bert!

I must mention my own dentist, Iain McIntyre, of McIntyre and Corbet in Dingwall who I initially didn’t recognise when he visited the ICP stand in his fatigues (which is not his usual attire in surgery!) who was supporting the British/Territorial Forces display stand looking to recruit army dentists.

There was a wide variety of lecture topics to choose from too, with guest presenters including Paul Tiption, Mike Gow, Trevor Burke, Ashley Latter and Daz Singh. The event also provided the opportunity to meet up with a host of ICP’s preferred partners (in either a business or social capacity). And it reinforced to me how these relationships enhance the benefits available to our members and rather than listing everyone individually (you know who you are) it was great to catch up with Braemar Finance, Coltene, Dental Directory, DTS, Dentsply, Schottlander, Thorntons and Wright Cottrell.

So, to summarise: great show, great venue, great customers, great partners.

See you next year!
